We’ll get an overview of direct marketing of all natural vegetables and pastured laying hens, geese, and pigs. Andy will also teach the two basics of cattle handling, flight zone and association time. These will first be explained then used to understand cattle for easier calf handling, halter training, treating sick cattle, and even ox driving. Participants will get many practical perspectives on applying Flight Zone and Association Time!
Instructor Bio: Andy Lyon grew up in North Central Pennsylvania where the prevailing farming tradition is of New England origin like most of New York State. He credits this tradition for influencing him to use oxen for his traction power today. He is the owner of Spring Meadows Farm, a business that benefits from minimal investment in heavy equipment, freedom from oil prices, enhanced animal and plant health and increased profit. Spring Meadows Farm now markets grass-fed beef, pastured eggs, garlic, vegetables and pork. Milk cows supply most of the fat and protein for the hens and hogs, and for the farmers.
