Farming For Justice- Fair Food in the Time of COVID-19
with The Coalition of Immokalee Workers
Wednesday, December 9th 12pm-1:30pm EST
The Coalition of Immokalee Workers (CIW) is a worker-based human rights organization internationally recognized for its achievements in fighting human trafficking and gender-based violence at work. This fall, farmworker leaders of the CIW are travelling virtually from Immokalee to cities across the country educating students, community leaders, and people of faith about the struggle for essential farmworkers’ rights.
It is more pressing now than ever before to ensure enforceable protections and safety measures for essential farmworkers during COVID-19. Farmworker leaders of the CIW will be speaking about the groundbreaking protections of the award-winning Fair Food Program, and the urgency for corporations like Wendy’s to use their purchasing power to demand compliance with verifiable worker health and safety standards during the ongoing pandemic, and beyond.
