Farming for Justice: June – Equitable Food Access

Last week at Groundswell Center was a busy week! After returning from the Big Apple, we immediately jumped into other events that all happened within one weeks span of time. Our Farming for Justice Discussion on Tuesday morning was great, if you weren’t tuned in. We had a panel consisting of members of VINES Farm Share program in Binghamton, NY: Kate Miller-Corcoran, VINES Farm Share Program Manager, Lorna Swaine-Abdallah, VINES Farm Share volunteer and Graduate of the Food Bank Southern Tier Speakers’ Bureau (Expert by Experience) and Stephanie Roberts from Shared Roots Farm (VINES Partner Farm) . They all showed the interconnectedness that is necessary in a community where the goal is making local, fresh food more accessible to those who live in food deserts.

If you want to listen to the discussion, please check out the video posted here! If you’re looking to Contact Kate, Lorna or Stephanie, here are there emails:

This upcoming month, on Wednesday July 10th, we will be veering off our morning schedule and flipping it to the evening from 6-7:30pm for a discussion on food insecurity experiences at Cornell University, with a small panel led by Marquan Jones, Cornell ‘20.
