June Workshop Highlight: Tractor Basics

Nine people came to the Groundswell Incubator Farm on June 16th to learn Tractor Basics, taught by Liz Pickard. People came from a variety of backgrounds- beginner farmers, viticulturists, new land owners, Incubator Farmers, and experienced farmers. Liz started the class by talking about tractor safety. Walking around Groundswell’s John Deere tractor from the early 1980’s gave us lots of examples of what to look for, and how to improve safety! Liz then described maintenance, explaining when and how to check and change fluids and grease fittings. Once the group had digested all of that information, we headed out into the field and everyone got a chance to drive the tractor!
