Groundswell is thrilled to announce our partnership with American Farmland Trust and Khuba International. This collaboration aims to support beginning farmers and landowners, offering crucial support on land access. We are dedicated to diversifying the food system and providing opportunities for those from disadvantaged backgrounds who have historically been displaced from the land. The journey to find land and funding can be challenging, but we are committed to helping farmers navigate this process and succeed.
Farmland for a New Generation New York is a program coordinated by the American Farmland Trust, and the Increasing Land Access Program from Khuba International aims to enable marginalized farmers to gain cooperative access to and agency over land. These initiatives are funded by the USDA and the State of New York and include partnerships with agricultural organizations, land trusts, and others that help farmers seeking land and landowners who want to keep their land in farming.
Groundswell is part of a network called Regional Navigators, partner organizations with dedicated staff, that provides training and on-the-ground customized support for farmers and landowners in regions across New York. As part of this network, Groundswell can offer farmers guidance on navigating the process, as well as provide educational resources and support to farmers and landowners in successfully transferring their farms.

If you’re a farmer in search of land, you can create a profile on Farmland for a New Generation as a “Land Seeker,” share information about your ideal land access scenario, and reach out directly to farmland owners for more information about their land. Groundswell can help you find listings of farmland and farmers, as well as training materials, events, and personal assistance.
