In this women’s-only workshop on Thursday, Feb 21st 4:30pm-7:30pm, learn the basics of butchering chicken and pork. This workshop is led by Heather Sandford, co-owner of The Piggery. Workshop cost is sliding scale $40-$60.
Course content includes:
- basic knife safety skills
- breaking down a whole chicken by the end of the course
- introduction to butchering a pig carcass and cuts
What to Bring: Heather recommends comfortable shoes for standing on a concrete floor and wearing layers as the cut room is about 50 degrees.
The Women on the Land Series is a collection of hands-on workshops for women taught by women and include topics such as butchering, welding, carpentry, electric, and chainsaw skills. Gender non-conforming and trans folks welcome at these events.
